General Maintenance & Facilities Technician

Purpose: Monitor multi-unit facilities to uphold high standards of maintenance and repair by accessing, troubleshooting, and repairing buildings and equipment. Conduct preventative maintenance to keep restaurants and equipment functional, safe, and complaint with legal & McDonald’s standards.
Job Functions: 1) Repair and maintain assigned number of restaurants for building and commercial foodservice equipment including but not limited to refrigerators, ice machines, ovens, fryers, and beverage equipment a. Complete performance checks b. Complete preventative maintenance c. Complete or manage all repairs and maintenance work to standard d. Respond to emergencies including nights and weekends to correct unsafe or hazardous conditions. e. Perform periodic maintenance assessments
2) Execute effective administrative processes to schedule and track repairs, maintain parts inventory and a central warehouse of tools and supplies. a. Process work orders submitted by restaurant teams. b. Prioritize and schedule restaurant visits in partnership with general managers and supervisors. c. Track and process parts purchases and appropriate billing to accounts payable. d. Track and record completed repairs and maintain accurate records within facility tracking system. e. Order, track, record, and maintain inventory parts for commercial kitchen appliances, commercial refrigeration equipment and all HVAC equipment as needed.
3) Grow technical skills and competencies to expand ability to maintain additional assets in the restaurant. a. Attend appropriate technical and manufacturer training to obtain additional licenses and certifications to progress in your career
4) Assist in training of staff for proper daily cleaning & maintenance and provide input to optimize equipment performance a. Complete in-service training of staff on proper cleaning and daily maintenance of equipment b. Identify operating challenges that lead to equipment failure c. Responsible for attending new equipment training, training staff and demonstrating proper safe use and operation of equipment to staff. Identify and correct unsafe conditions and practices.
5) Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Education: • High school diploma or GED not required. Formal trade related training/education and or certification(s) a plus. Restaurant equipment certifications and some HVAC / mechanical, refrigeration experience is preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications: • Hands-on experience working in facility maintenance or equipment repair capacity. • Wide experience performing a variety of restaurant equipment, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and building repairs. • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize tasks in a self-directed work environment and maintain high levels of productivity without direct supervision. • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Strong problem-solving orientation. Seek to solve problems with a sense of urgency. • Curiosity and aptitude for learning how things work and desire to grow and broaden skills and competencies. • Valid Drivers license with good driving record and able to pass a criminal background check • Relevant technical training, licenses, and/or certifications • Technical experience with refrigeration, appliance repair, kitchen equipment, HVAC, or relevant military service • Self-motivated with the proven ability prioritize and work independently with minimal direct supervision

Physical Requirements: • Ability to frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, reach, and occasionally lift and carry up to 70 pounds • Ability to work with moving mechanical parts, pressurized steam equipment, heated surfaces, liquids, and risk of electrical shock in damp, humid, or freezing conditions • Ability to work on ladders and roofs
