McDonald's Manager - Merchandising, Global Marketing in Chicago, Illinois
The Merchandising Manager will work with the Merchandising Director to develop best-in-class merchandising content that significantly grows McDonald’s business by focusing on the customer path to purchase.
They will be a subject matter expert in merchandising in retail (shopper marketing), with a focus on how this plays out in digital products and how digital and traditional merchandising work together. As part of the Global Merchandising team, the Merchandising Manager will be responsible for developing existing merchandising across all digital platforms (with a focus on App and Web, but also including Digital Menu Boards, Self-Order Kiosks, Community Screens, etc.), to strengthen the McDonald’s customer experience and to positively impact restaurant sales. The goals for our digital merchandising programs will vary, but will typically include increasing the average size of check, improving guest counts, driving incremental visits, expanding the visit occasion(s) by customer, and improving brand perception scores.
The Merchandising Manager will play a role, in partnership with the rest of the Merchandising, Marketing, Digital and IT teams, in determining the optimum roadmap for the evolution of McDonald’s merchandising. The team will coordinate and align the Merchandising team’s efforts with broader McDonald’s marketing and digital initiatives, and leverage external resources to enhance performance and develop best-in-class merchandising content.
Four to six years' experience.
Bachelor degree in related field.
Retail merchandising/shopper marketing experience, with a broad digital capability and understanding, and a knowledge of how traditional and digital work together.
An entrepreneurial mindset with the rigor and discipline to build the business and creative
competencies that will allow McDonald's to stand out in the market.
Project management skills, and excellent communication and persuasion abilities.
A self-starter with a proven ability to work in matrixed organizations and thrive in high-performing teams spread across time zones.
Existing Merchandising design and execution
Work with Marketing, Digital, Agency and Supplier teams to provide Merchandising design and execution expertise across digital products/platforms such as GMA (app) and Web Ordering Services, managing integration to ensure one brand experience for omnichannel customers and to assist in driving the broader business strategy.
New Merchandising development
Work cross functionally with Marketing and Digital (Global and Market) teams to test and track performance of new and innovative Merchandising efforts across all platforms (most importantly digital platforms such as Global Mobile App, Web-ordering, Digital Menu Boards, Self-Ordering Kiosks), integrating approaches.
Support Market team s in leveraging Merchandising to achieve targeted business goals based on identified customer needs and opportunties, and assist Markets in developing Digital Merchandising roadmaps.
Best practice development and sharing
Work with Markets across Segments to pull out best-in-class merchandising activities and practices with KPIs , and reframe that for global application so that internal customers can confidently enhance and expand on these platforms over time to maximise business results.
Developing System abilities
Proactive engagement with Markets, Agencies and Suppliers to facilitate digital merchandising execution with resource and asset development .
