Job Description:

The HR Generalist is a McDonald's Corporate employee that reports to a Director, HR Business Partner as part of the HR Client Solutions group which provides HR generalist support across the Home Office organization. The HR Generalist will be part of an HR Shared Service model that leverages strong relationships and consulting skills to build the leadership capabilities of functional partners, effectively driving business results through people management. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, compensation and performance management, employee relations and staff development. Key stakeholders include staff and leadership teams across multiple functions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an HR Generalist role required

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field

  • Strong experience with employee relations and legal investigations

  • Able to successfully execute against multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Exceptional communication skills with an ability to adapt approach to meet needs of audience

  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and influence stakeholders

  • Adept at forging a collaborative approach and aligning team members/resources

  • Experience with developing and delivering group presentation

  • Intermediate Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)

  • PHR Certification preferred






Using a shared service model approach, the HR Generalist will partner with HR Business Partners to:

  • Manage employee relations to insure a consistent application of policy and practice, including coaching/counseling, employee investigations, progressive discipline and problem resolution.

  • Identify common trends and issues related to individual development needs among staff and partners with HR

  • Directors and line staff to develop and implement appropriate solutions.

  • In partnership with recruiting function, works with functional departments regarding talent selection, job descriptions and leveling of new roles.

  • Consults and coaches functional line management on people decisions (e.g., staffing, development, employee relations) to ensure that they align with the people strategies.

  • Anticipates and assesses the gaps between business needs and people systems/capabilities within function and uses information to drive appropriate actions.

  • Partners with the HR Director to coordinate all talent planning activities (succession planning etc.), with a focus on achieving diversity and creating developmental plans for high performing, high potential staff.

  • Partner with Director team to coordinate the annual compensation and bonus process; and, to facilitate and coordinate annual performance review process.

  • Function as a liaison within HR with subject matter experts (eg Compensation, Talent, Labor Relations) to assist in developing and deploying HR systems and programs.
